Photo-Voltaic Systems

These Photovoltaic (PV) systems convert sunlight into electricity, the PV modules on the roof produce energy and then cables conduct the electricity to the batteries where it is stored. Between the PV panels on the roof and the battery, the current passes through a charge regulator which will shut off the flow when the batteries are fully charged.

The battery will provide direct current (DC) which majority of domestic appliances do not work off; most appliances found in the home work on alternating current (AC). The battery bank if used will be sized accordingly to the home’s requirements. There is a certain safety sized into the battery bank to prevent the battery from discharging to low.

To invert DC to AC we make use of an inverter. This too is sized per specific situation or requirement and there are various types modified sine wave and true sine wave inverters.
